Established in 1921, Camp Kawartha has expanded into a year-round facility, offering day and overnight summer camps for children ages 4-17, curriculum-linked outdoor and environmental education programs for students in grades K to 12, and facility rentals for meetings, workshops, group retreats, and conferences.

​Camp Kawartha also offers workshops on environmental education, sustainable living and is working with the entire community to foster stewardship at each and stage of a child’s development.

Peterborough Lift Lock and Museum
​
 Located on the Otonabee River section of the Trent Canal in the City of Peterborough, Ontario. It is a large concrete structure along the Trent-Severn Waterway designed to lift boats 19.8 metres.  An engineering achievement of national and international renown. When completed in 1904, it was the highest hydraulic lift lock ever built, with a vertical lift of nearly 20 metres (65 feet) and was reputed to be the largest unreinforced concrete structure in the world.

ANIMAL EXHIBITS
With over 25 exhibits and 40 
animal species, learn more about your favorite animals at Riverview Park and Zoo and how you can protect and conserve them in the natural world.

Primate Building: The primate building is home to squirrel monkeys who share the space with lizards, birds, and tortoises. 
Otter Exhibit: Our outstanding otter exhibit opened in 2007 and has two pools, a waterfall and a slide, as well as outdoor land areas for the animals to roam, play and hide. Our zookeepers host otter enrichment sessions every day at 1:30 PM 
Rotary Education Centre Exhibit: Come to visit the plated lizards, ball pythons, Sulawesi Forest turtles and box turtles, as well as the dwarf crocodiles.

Warsaw Caves Conservation Area

Warsaw Caves Conservation Area has 52 un-serviced campsites in a beautiful wooded setting, just 25 minutes outside of Peterborough. 


Caving and Spelunking: Warsaw Caves Conservation Area takes its name from a series of seven caves found in the park. This guide will provide you with some information about the geologic history of the site and tips for exploring the caves and other natural features nearby.

For the best experience, bring along a headlamp or flashlight and be sure to wear sturdy shoes – no ropes or climbing gear required!
