1000 Islands History Museum 
Founded in 1995, our museum tells the story of Gananoque's varied history, from glaciers and muskies to pirates and picnickers. Discover the place where past meets present by visiting our interactive exhibits, relaxing on our waterfront veranda and browsing our unique gift shop.​​
​Located in the Arthur J.E. Child building on the waterfront, in Gananoque, we bring the past alive through our exhibits, programming, and tours.

Admission is by donation.

1000 Islands National Park
Bring your students or family into an incredible journey among the rocky islands and clear waters. The choices of paddling and hiking experiences in the park are as diverse as its many islands. Relax and play on the breezy banks, have a picnic or a barbecue, touch the live animals, try the Island Quest adventure, camp or stay in an oTENTik, learn about nature and make memories of your own.

1000 Island Parkway
Rollerblading and cycling are popular along the 37 km paved trail, which is parallel to the 1000 Islands Parkway, between Gananoque and Brockville and also forms a section of the Waterfront Trail. There is no fee to ride the path.
Points of interest along the way include the St. Lawrence Islands National Park & the Landon Bay Centre which also has trails, beautiful gardens & a phenomenal natural lookout over the river. A map can be downloaded from website.

1000 Islands Playhouse
The Thousand Islands Playhouse 2013 season opens at the Springer Theatre with Suds, The Rocking 60s Musical Soap Opera from May 24 – June 22. This rock’n’roll fairy tale, is filled with dozens of your favourite chart-topping songs from the 60s that will make you want to “Shout” and do the “Loco-Motion”. See website for season schedule.

Aquatrium
Bring your class or family to our interactive discovery-based learning centre located inthe heart of the 1000 Islands. From shipwrecks and pirates, to river otters and the fascinating world of the St. Lawrence River, we offer K-12 programs lined to the Ontario Curricula in History, Georgraphy, Social Studies, science and Technology. Experience hands-on learning, fun and play at the Aquatarium.

Arthur Child Heritage Museum
The Museum will host The Four Wars of 1812 from the Canadian War Museum. In addition the Museum showcases authentic 1812 period artifacts from a private collector. The permanent exhibits on the 2nd floor interpret the rich geological and cultural heritage of the 1000 Islands region from the glaciers to the mid-1900’s. Admission is by donation.

Open daily May to Oct and weekends only in Nov – Dec.

Brockville Museum
History comes to life! Nestled on the waterfront in Brockville’s historic downtown, our community museum features great educational opportunities. A variety of curriculum based programs investigate the lives of the early settlers, the adventures of the voyageurs and the First Nations perspective. Every program involves hands-on crafts and baking activities. Programs are 1 hour to 1-1/2 to 2 hours in length. Grade designation for each program is based on the Ontario School Curriculum,  but programs can be adapted to the needs of your class. Programs labeled ” Museum On The Go” can be brought to your school. Inquire about seasonal programs, traveling exhibits and special events, crafts, cooking activities and games with each program.

Confederation Sculpture Park
Ontario’s largest outdoor art gallery is located adjacent to the picturesque Gananoque Town Hall. Note that on Thursday nights in July and August you can enjoy a series of free outdoor concerts in the town park.

Fort Wellington National Historic Site
Visit one of the best preserved forts in Upper Canada, built during the War of 1812 to defend the St. Lawrence River shipping route. Discover how the soldiers and their families lived in  1846 when the Royal Canadian Rifle Regiment was stationed here. Visit the Barracks, the powder magazine, the officers’s quarters, and look at a rare 1812-era gunboat wreck and a new exhibition commemorating the Fenian Raids. Guided tours of school groups recommended.

Gananoque Pirate Days
Thur, July 11th  to Sun, July 14th
Gananoque goes to the Pirates with a Captain Jack Sparrow look-a-like contest, children’s activities in Town Hall Park and at the Gananoque Boat Line docks. Join in the fun as the Pirates parade invades downtown Gananoque. Saturday evening climb aboard for a Pirate Cruise of the 1000 Islands.

Festival at a glance: Thursday night is movie night in the park with 2 movies. Captain Jack, will be flying in a day early to have dinner with the families if they wish to eat at the waterfront that night as well he will be around all evening during the movies.
Pirate parade Friday evening, also kids’ games and prizes in the pirates’ village, pirate performers, puppet show, buskers, bands, and storytellers .

Admission: $5 for children for the 4 days. $10 for adults or $5 adults for one day.

Frontenac Arch Biosphere
Gananoque is also part of the Frontenac Arch Biosphere which was officially designated by National Geographic as the world’s ninth Geotourism Regions. The Biosphere is exceptionally rich in its numbers and variety of trails and experiences. Explore The Arch networks features and trails of one of the world’s great natural and heritage landscapes.

Joel Stone Beach
The beautiful Joel Stone beach lies on the shore of the St. Lawrence with a deep water swim dock, sandy beach and Splash Pad. An easy way to enjoy an afternoon, take a swim or just relax and enjoy the beauty of the river and the view of the Thousand Islands.

Landon Bay Center
The Landon Bay Centre is a 225 acre Ecological Reserve within the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve close to the Town of Gananoque.  The Centre is dedicated to protecting the environment and a special haven for the abundant bird and animal life. The Centre offers opportunities for environmental education, with an extensive network of walking trails, a scenic look-out, a large meeting hall, and a family campground that is pet friendly.

St. Lawrence Islands National Parks
​First national park east of the Rockies, works to promote sustainable recreation. The park is a key regional partner in the Frontenac Arch Biosphere Reserve. The park consists of 20 islands between Kingston and Brockville. Activities include: Camping, hiking, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, boating, boat tours, scuba diving, bicycling, interpretive programs, nature camps for children.

Summer Music Band Stand Series
Gananoque’s unique outdoor concert series offers an opportunity to experience a variety of music from Jazz to Gospel. Bring your lawn chair and listen to great music in wonderful outdoor settings at the historic Town Park Bandstand.
Free concerts held in Town Park each Thursday evening starting June 27th to Aug 29th. The Music will begin between 7:15pm and 7:30pm until 8:30pm!!
